History
Evaluate Energy’s founder, Richard Krijgsman is a Canadian, educated in the UK as an economist. He started his career in the oil and gas industry as an analyst with London-based consultancy Petroleum Economics, and went on to gain experience as an equity analyst with James Capel (now HSBC); a writer and publisher with Petroleum Intelligence Weekly (now part of Energy Intelligence Group); and an Investor Relations professional with BP.
In 1985, Richard formed Petroguide Ltd with former oil trader Peter Lymbery to produce a guide to international oil markets. The publication brought together in one place well-structured, easy to use information on world oil markets.
In 1988, Richard and equity analyst Robin Hooper formed Petrocompanies Ltd to publish a hard copy guide to major international oil companies. The book pulled together key corporate information into one convenient place so that global oil companies could do competitor analysis more easily.
In May 1995, Petrocompanies introduced a software version of its product called Petrocompanies for Windows, which gained rapid acceptance by existing clients and by other leading oil companies. The service is now delivered exclusively via the Web.
In 1998, the company joined forces with top pharmaceutical analyst, Jonathan de Pass, to launch the highly successful EvaluatePharma service, aimed at the global pharmaceutical business.
In 2000, the Petrocompanies and Petroguide services came together under the new company name of Evaluate Energy.
In 2007, Evaluate Energy purchased The CanOils Database®, which covers every E&P company in Canada.
