The World Bank’s latest rankings for “Ease of Doing Business” shows Canada and the US substantially more troublesome places to do business than some of the leading OPEC countries. (see http://data.worldbank.org/data-catalog)
Only the UK and Norway beat Saudi Arabia and the UAE on the World Bank’s latest “Ease of Doing Business” score. And the Russian Federation only just creeps ahead of Ecuador in the rankings. Apparently, (and to this writer a little surprisingly), Afghanistan is ranked by the World Bank as far easier place to do business than the majority of OPEC countries.
Is there something wrong with the stats or are they telling us something we should listen to?
